Wale Debuts New Colorways Of The Nike GT Future

For sneakerheads of a certain age, 2025 has brought a full-circle moment. Some ten years ago, Baltimore native and kick collector extraordinaire Wale was the source for high-heat debuts and rarely-seen pairs, even if he wore no official ties to the Swoosh. After multiple stops and starts in the rumor mill about that relationship finally becoming concrete, a “soft launch” with the launch of the DMV Foams has only gained momentum in the new year, with Wale debuting two colorways of the upcoming GT Future, including the reflective teal pair at hand.

Though the GT Future doesn’t sport the hardy Foamposite material, still the choice to bring in Wale as an ambassador makes a ton of sense given the shoe’s molded exterior shell, intact for this new make-up. At rest, lush aquatic tones take over, flashing into bright silver when illuminated. It’s clearly the central aesthetic on the shoe, reinforced by similar iridescent tones shining through on the tongue Swoosh.

Even if Foamposites were initially billed as basketball shoes, their more lasting impact has come as streetstyle, something that the GT Future also capitalizes on from an aesthetic standpoint. Don’t discount the “GT” subhead, though. Given the massive success that Swoosh has found with the inline series, it’s an indication that this new silo should still be plenty suited to on-court wear a la the GT Cut 3 or its peers.

The Nike GT Future at large is set to release in Holiday 2025 — it’s unclear whether this new colorway will arrive for the model’s debut or if it’s launch is planned for later. Check in for more concrete info via our Sneaker Release Dates page as we anticipate the silhouette’s introduction. In the meantime, check out a full suite of on-court imagery included below.
