Nike Revisits “Panda” On The Air Max Sunder

The 2020 colorway extends back to the '90s.

Nike Revisits “Panda” On The Air Max Sunder

Is the “Panda” Dunk the most influential shoe of the decade? It’s a question that circulates from time to time in our realm, but when parsing through black and white kicks that have surfaced in the years since Peter Moore’s design was inescapable circa 2020, it’s hard to ignore the argument. Seemingly every pair that splits the difference between white and black warrants the moniker regardless of its actual ties. Case in point, the Nike Air Max Sunder “Panda” featured here.

If there’s any upshot to the proliferation of the ursine label, it’s that you know exactly what to expect sight unseen. That’s particularly true if you’re aware of how Nike has rolled out most Air Max Sunder releases in the shoe’s current retro. The “default” color-blocking of jet black trim across the mudguard, pull-tabs and outsole remains in place, with the major shift occurring on the synthetic exterior shroud and zipper, clad in the inverted snowy shade. Though we’ve become accustomed to highlighter shades draping the 90s curio, both in revivals of original colorways and fresh looks that pay homage to that period, the shoe is absolutely just as impressive shifting over to a more staid side of things.

The Nike Air Max Sunder “Panda” doesn’t carry a concrete release date at the time of writing, but Beaverton has tended towards SNKRS releases and other pre-planned drops for the silhouette. Stay tuned for further updates via this article and our Sneaker Release Dates page. Whenever this pair does materialize, expect the usual $190 retail price in women’s sizing.
