It’s hard to imagine a sneaker landscape in which all-white Air Forces aren’t a suitable option. Despite holding one of the most bankable assets in all of footwear, Nike has pinned every type of experimental touch on the Uptown over its lifespan, but they continually prove they’ve got more tricks up their sleeve than we can ever predict. The latest for Bruce Kilgore’s design is a Nike Air Force 1 Low with butterflies pinned onto its profile, still clad in that timeless “Triple White.”

Indeed, though the entirely snowy profile remains, three of the winged critters are plastered to the sidewalls with button fasteners. We’d love to know exactly what spurned this colorway, but the reliance on attachments makes us think that perhaps the younger demographic’s embrace of Jibbitz and charms of their ilk could have indirectly led to this look (it wouldn’t be the first time the two companies went head-to-head…) Nonetheless, the matte finish on the lepidopterous accessories helps them blend in enough to not distract from the classic Air Force 1 arrangement, threading the needle between playful and street-valid.

The Nike Air Force 1 Low “Butterflies” should be expected to hit Nike.com and local retailers this Summer shopping season. Though the special edition touches here may prompt a slight premium, you can reasonably expect this shoe to hover around the typical $130 retail price.
