Matt Varga Nike has the tech runner market well covered with a myriad of silhouettes bearing those early century tenets. Just on their site as we speak, there’s half a dozen new formulations that hit the nail on the head: the V2K Run, V5 RNR P-6000, Initiator, and AL8 among others. However, it’s hard to tackle that time period better than shoes actually crafted contemporaneously. The Nike Pegasus 2k5 is one of their strongest propositions from that retro angle, now capitalizing on a flashy “Picante Red” colorway.
From jump, you’ll note that this Nike Pegasus 2k5 “Picante Red” stands out with striking color-blocking, a divergence from the schemes that the silhouette has championed in previous looks. While the everlasting Y2K design language appears with the metallic silver underlays and mesh, the titular “Picante Red” does an admirable job in bringing more vibrant flash to this shoe at the toe-cap and quarter.
