ASICS is continuing to expand its flourishing Sportstyle catalog with new silhouettes rooted in running heritage. The GEL-Sekiran is the Japanese brand’s latest, pulling influence from models released in the 2000s and 2010s.

There’s nothing particularly groundbreaking about the model, with the mesh and synthetic leather construction staying close to cuts like the GEL-1130 and GT-2160. The most notable upper characteristic is a set of abstract underlays joined to the heel, midsole, and eyelets, a quality inspired partly by the GEL-Nimbus 13 and GEL-Cumulus models. The midsole stands out with a continuous streak of diamond-like sculpting, making space for GEL capsules around the forefoot and heel.

“Black/Waterfall” and “White/Lapis Lazuli Blue” colorways are already available in Australia, meaning the GEL-Sekiran should land stateside in the near future. Budget for a $130 price tag if you’re interested in copping.
