Original article published April 21st, 2025: Nike isn’t afraid of hopping on a trend, particularly when it comes to its ever-playful silhouettes, the Air Jordan 1 and Nike Dunk Low. We continue to circle back to the “Dunks Not Dead” edition in parsing out subsequent off-the-wall editions, a perfect exemplar of the wide-ranging inspirations that the Swoosh has pulled from as the canon of unexplored colorways continues to shrink. That is to say, there’s no reference too far-flung to rule out cropping up on Peter Moore’s design.

Can we guarantee that Beaverton creatives were crushing cottagecore inspo videos while dreaming up the Nike Dunk Low “Sanddrift?” We’re not even sure how we’d do that, but we do know that the rattan underpinnings and waffle knit textures on display here certainly push this colorway close to that aesthetic school of thought. As does the overwhelming earthy tonality utilized throughout this shoe, achieved with a two-pronged approach of “Sanddrift” and “Desert Khaki.” The latter, darker shade anchors the design via the outsole traction, added some conventional hardware along with the usual leather overlays.

If this sort of traditional look is up your alley, look for the Nike Dunk Low “Sanddrift” coming to Nike.com and partnering retailers in the Summer/Fall shopping season. Though this shoe will almost certainly hover in the $125 range expected of the model, don’t be shocked if there’s a slight premium given the experimental touches used.
