Matt Varga As of late on our site, we’ve been bombarded by odes to the global game with pairs like the Sabrina 2 “Titan” or Kobe 4 “CHBL.” Of course, the Nike, Inc. dedications to streetball come on the home front as well, something well explicated by the yearly “NY vs NY” series. With the 2025 edition starting to trickle out, we’re now getting an unexpected addition to the slate in the Air Max Uptempo 95 “NY v NY.”
To briefly take stock of what we’ve seen of this year’s capsule so far, Karl Anthony Towns provided a first look at the Air Force 1 “NY v NY,” while a potential Ja 2 NRG edition surfaced via an early retail drop. What makes the inclusion of the silhouette at hand so surprising is the fact that to date, its only 2025 colorways have been bring-backs of already established styles popularized by pros like Scottie Pippen and Derek Fisher.
Kicking off modernized styles with a special edition release of this sort could be a prudent move, and on its own merits, it plays within the lines of usual NYC palettes with blue trim on the exterior and orange pops on the insole. A more staid combination of black and white dominates the upper, with Statue of Liberty style teal on the dual pull-tabs.
