Travis Barker Models FTP’s First Ever Vans Collaboration

Los Angeles streetwear brand FUCKTHEPOPULATION (FTP) is finally releasing a Vans collaboration. In what feels like a long-overdue link-up, the two SoCal institutions have prepared co-branded takes on the Old Skool 36 and Authentic 44 for launch on May 9th.

Given the shared rebellious ethos of both brands, FTP and Vans are a perfect match for one another. Their inaugural collaboration makes a strong impression off the bat, with FTP enlisting Vans frontman Travis Barker in its campaign. The Blink-182 drummer is featured in a video portraying a heist, with the grand prize being the FTP x Vans. Moreover, his love for classic cars shines through in the campaign’s still images (as seen above).

Starting with the Authentic 44, the sneaker features Vans’ iconic checkerboard with “FTP” text in all the white squares. The pattern appears over cotton canvas, with the toe box making a texture swap to premium suede. Continuing the all-over branding theme, more FTP text appears on the forefoot, midsole, and outsole through translucent rubber.

The Old Skool 36 is equally heavy on branding, with FTP logos appearing liberally on the on the sides and outsole. The real highlight here is a series of reflective touches. The sidestripe and FTP logos over the tongue and heel are all treated with a reflective finish, adding some flair to an otherwise stealthy look. Moreover, both FTP x Vans styles come with premium leather insoles and and extra set of over-branded laces.

“I grew up in the Crenshaw area of Los Angeles with my mom. Anytime she was looking for school shoes that worked for me, it was always Vans. Since starting FTP back in 2010 during high school, I’ve always dreamed of doing a collaboration with them. This project really feels like a full circle moment — a dream come true. I just wish Keith Hufnagel, my mentor, was here to see it. He was one of the first people to believe in me and help open doors in the industry. I hope my journey shows that if you believe in yourself and keep going, you really can do anything,” says Zac Clark, founder of FTP.

The inaugural FTP x Vans collaboration releases May 9th, 2025 through vans.com/otw. The Old Skool 36 retails for $145, while the Authentic 44 goes for $130. See official images of both sneakers below if you’re moved to cop.
