The Nike Air Max Craze Surfaces In “University Red”

A rosy spin on the silo's original aesthetics.

The Nike Air Max Craze Surfaces In “University Red”

Its arrival may have come with a bit less overall fanfare than the Air Max Sunder, but the Nike Air Max Craze seems set for similar treatments to its Alpha Project peer as the year draws on. A two-pronged introduction has quickly been followed up by images of rangier colorways, a description that absolutely fits the “University Red” Air Max Craze on tap today.

Only the initial “Bright Citrus” pair has revisited an OG look, yet the influence of that look looms large over all the ones that have followed. The gridded upper pattern and flame-like graphic towards the toe weren’t necessarily the default back in the model’s 2001 heyday, sometimes opting for striped or textual counterparts. There’s no denying that the composition shown here threads the needle between fully retro 90’s designs and easily digestible modern ones, something additionally delivered by the expressive yet sporty colorway on tap. A blend of “University Red” and “Hyper Pink” express a romantic vision up top, while the paintbrush stroke and outsole design work in sportier black and white.

Look for the Nike Air Max Craze populating SNKRS in the coming weeks, carrying its usual $170 MSRP. Women’s sizing is also expected. Catch detailed shots included below and keep our Sneaker Release Dates page within reach for more info as the launch nears closer.
