The gridded upper pattern and flame-like graphic towards the toe weren’t necessarily the default back in the model’s 2001 heyday, sometimes opting for striped or textual counterparts. There’s no denying that the composition shown here threads the needle between fully retro 90’s designs and easily digestible modern ones, something additionally delivered by the expressive yet sporty colorway on tap. A blend of “University Red” and “Hyper Pink” express a romantic vision up top, while the paintbrush stroke and outsole design work in sportier black and white.
