Reebok Volleys The Pump Omni Zone II For Tennis Events

Stopping off in a series of hoops/tennis drops.

Reebok Volleys The Pump Omni Zone II For Tennis Events

A majority of shoes have defining colorways, but it’s much tougher for a silhouette to mark a defining moment. The Jordan 3 has the free throw line dunk, the Answer 4 has Allen Iverson’s ultimate disrespect in the NBA Finals, and the Reebok Pump Omni Zone II has Dee Brown’s contest-winning no look dunk. That feat of athleticism has propelled the model into becoming one of Reebok’s most treasured retro assets, making scattered appearances throughout the decade. For its next trick, the Reebok Pump Omni Zone II is trading in the hardwood for another court entirely, debuting a commemorative edition that ostensibly connects to a major tennis event.

Though the basketball-meets-tennis concept may raise eyebrows at first glance, it’s a play that’s well-established for Reebok: the Court Pump Victory issued a US Open / “Big Apple” colorway in September. In contrast to that split-blocked pair, this special ode keeps to a restrained script, pulling the green and orange signature shades associated with the tournament and dotting it around a neutral base of leather and suede. Curiously, Reebok’s official copy mentions “Irish-inspired embroidery,” clearly seen towards the rear of this design but left as something of a head scratcher narratively. If nothing else, perhaps it allows a dual purpose, connecting some patriotic tones with the iconic clay court/grandstands combo.

This Reebok Pump Omni Zone II releases on June 6th at 10 AM Eastern via Reebok.com, retailing for $160. Catch official images included below.
