It may not get the pub that newer models like the New Balance 2000 or the overall visibility that mainstays like the New Balance 1906R retains, but the New Balance 991v2 has been a constant presence on the newswire throughout 2025. Serving up a sensible balance of high-heat collabs and eminently wearable fare for the hardcore NB fans, the New Balance 991v2 ventures on another colorway in the latter category with a “Celestial Blue” variation.

On its top levels with buttery “Celestial Blue” suedes, this colorway stands out from some of the more lowkey editions that’ve surfaced in recent months, but this pair is nonetheless easily digestible as a “core” offering. Traditional color-blocking is at work once again, only interrupting the cerulean coloring in the upper with well-established grey pops, while relying on a split betwen pure white and beige in the midsole. All told, its another moment where the New Balance 991v2 excels as a premium offering in the NB catalog, lasered in on more discerning consumers that’d rather pay a premium in exchange for higher quality.
