Sneaker News It’s about time to put the leather retro high-tops away, because the hot summer months are around the corner and footwear is skewing to low-cut models and vibrant neons. This upcoming Air Max Waffle SP release checks all those boxes, so let’s take a closer look.
Keeping to the multi-shoe build, this hybrid features the upper silhouette of the Waffle Racer with a suede-on-nylon construction that reflects the 1970’s athletics vibe. Nike chose two textures of suede–a soft grain on the toe-guard and ankle-collar and a brushed, hairy suede swatch towards the heel. Full grain leather appears on the Swoosh and heel-tab in synetic leather.
Below, the Waffle’s signature nubs appear in Gum Medium Brown, sitting just beneath the coconut milk-tinted midsoles to finish off the retro aesthetic.
