Original article published June 12th, 2025: PUMA and JJJJound are equally working in overdrive. Already holding an extremely reliable Midas touch, the Montreal studio has already checked collections with New Balance, adidas, Vans, and ASICS in the opening half of the year. Elsewhere in the industry, PUMA continues to put pedal to the metal with the Mostro, shifting and bending the silhouette every which way with both mainline and collaborative takes. At last, those two trains collide, as the JJJJound PUMA Mostro that’s beginning to hit overseas retailers.

You’ll likely be able to spot the changes from a mile away, but as JJJJound outfits a brown and navy colorway, their tonal design language doesn’t move an inch in this collaboration. Instead, it’s PUMA that makes the most significant compromises here, outfitting their running icon in suede, marking the second time this year (following the Aries Mostro Craft) and the first on this default build of the shoe.

On the new siding, the Formstrip becomes a flush dot matrix, whereas the Montreal imprint’s name stands one layer above on the heel cup. Further, the tongue and sockliner shift into refined leather treatments, off-white leather treatments, the final twist before the usual rubber spike traction underfoot rounds things out.

The PUMA JJJJound in both “Dark Chocolate” and “Deep Navy” are queued up for release on July 12th. An initial launch via JJJJound will likely precede that wider drop. While you wait, check out detailed shots of both pairs below.
