The New Balance Abzorb 2000, detailed by lead designer Charlotte Lee as a major step forward for the brand, is already off t0 a hot start. Meeting the instant sell-out criteria that any company hopes for product launches, the springy silhouette is now letting loose some of the looks we can expect if you struck on the inaugural “Agate Blue,” or are looking to outfit the rotation with multiple pairs.

Included in the group of colorways tacitly tipped off amid the Abzorb House activation, official images of a black and grey formulation now trickle out, a steely counterpart to the extremely vibrant debut variation. However, despite the stealthy, darkened blend that takes over the upper, the segmented ABZORB pods underfoot remain an eye-catching detail given the contrast coloring splayed out on them, carrying the only inclusions of deep aquatic blue. On a more abstract level, this edition of the New Balance 2000 is its past-meets-future factor writ small, combining the neutral home base of the brand with the innovative tech and profile of one of their splashiest silhouettes in recent memory.
