For better or for worse, certain sneakers can never outrun certain color combinations. To wit, whether Jordan Brand designers are thinking of MJ’s alma mater when they cook up a new baby blue Jordan 1, we as the sneaker media and consumers will be right there with a “UNC” moniker. It’s those sort of ready associations that lead us to pin the history of the “Chili” Air Max 1 onto a freshly emerged colorway in black/red.

Diverging from the capsaicin-coated 1.0 and 3.0, this edition almost functions clearer as a “Reverse” edition, rejiggering the fiery color combination and landing on a red leather mudguard, black suede sidewalls, and grey/white mesh between. Look for the Nike Air Max 1 in black/red to hit shelves as a part of the Fall 2025 slate, stretching from July to September. A $150 retail price is projected.
