More and more, the propogation of tech runner silhouettes feels like an arms race: NB issues the New Balance 2000, the Three Stripes drops off the adidas Megaride AG. Or more simply with the defining faces; what feels like an endless battle between icons like the New Balance 1906R, ASICS GEL-Kayano 14, and Nike Zoom Vomero 5.

Given the big business stakes at work, there’s far more swings than expressed with those instantly recognizable silhouettes that result in more low-key propositions. It’s that classification where the Nike Pegasus Wave slides in, an attempt to double down on the construction of the Pegasus 2k5 with modernized touches.

We wouldn’t go as far as to say that the model hasn’t been a success, but it remains readily available all the same, allowing consumers to be a bit more discerning in deciding which colorway options really cut through the mold. Your mileage may vary, but the “Barely Green/Washed Coral” edition at hand goes a long way in cutting through the noise, taking on coastal sunset shades on its TPU cage at the quarter, soaking its mesh upper in seafoam shades, and closing with a rosy sole unit at the bottom.

The Nike Pegasus Wave “Barely Green” is expected to arrive sometime in the coming weeks, carrying a new $170 retail price as a result of the brand’s tariff-motivated increases.
