Andrew Rizzo PUMA Basketball was riding high during the NBA Finals… until they weren’t. The brand debuted Tyrese Haliburton’s PUMA Hali 1 in game one of the Pacers/OKC series, a game in which Hali notched the game-winning shot and thus gave us one of the best signature shoe debuts ever. Then in game seven, everything changed. Hali suffered a torn achilles in the first quarter, meaning the newly-anointed face of PUMA Basketball is likely to sit out the entire 2025-26 season. While PUMA unquestionably has high aspirations for the Hali 1 regardless, they haven’t put all their eggs in one basket. Meet the All-Pro NITRO 2; a continuation of the brand’s premier non-signature line set to debut in July.
Soon to be worn by PUMA athletes like RJ Barrett and Michael Porter Jr, the All-Pro NITRO 2 maintains the low-top shape of its predecessor but with key changes. It’s got a new NITROFOAM drop-in midsole, two different traction patterns, and refreshed upper featuring off-centered lacing and targeted support. An engineered mesh shell is wrapped around a padded interior, delivering both form and function with a synthetic Formstrip over the toe.
Three All-Pro NITRO 2 colorways have been unveiled thus far, led by a “White/Mint” pair releasing July 1st. PUMA will then tribute college star and current Dallas Mavericks coach God Shammgod with a “Shammgod” colorway on July 17th; a mismatched black, blue, and white pair inspired by Mavs colors and Shammgod’s synonymous crossover in the 1997 NCAA tournament. PUMA has also minted a black/multi-color pair for the Venice Basketball League, although it doesn’t has a confirmed release date as of this writing.
