As we’ve been saying throughout 2025, the 40th anniversary of Jordan Brand has driven the company to bring back all manner of classic shoes. After chalking off some of the most vaunted for the Air Jordan 1, 4, and 5, it’s the Air Jordan 8 that takes a turn in the spotlight, clad in the ’90s “Aqua” that’s been one of its defining looks since the silhouette first debuted.

The standout feature on the Aqua 8s remains the brushstroke pattern that takes over the outsole and mudguard panel, an expression of the blue/purple split that gives this edition its name. The same tonality bridges onto the tufted chenille Jordan logo, split into three equal sections by a fiery central Jumpman logo. Though comfortably seated in the historical Jordan canon buoyed by his on-court performances, this is a colorway the GOAT never paired with a Bulls uniform. Bygone uniform restrictions kept him to the “Bugs Bunny” and “Playoffs” during regular and postseason action; only allowing him to lace ’em up for the 1993 NBA All-Star Game.

It’s not just OG shoes that Nike, Inc. has lasered in during this celebration. It’s OG layouts as well, aiming at reprising the construction of these classic kicks as they first met public hands. To that end, the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua” sports the light grey rear suede panelling most commonly associated with this colorway — a detail crucially dimmed down for the 2007 retro. The  2025 thus makes the third overall bring-back of this iconic look, succeeding the 1993 OG, the aforementioned 2007, and an additional 2015 pair.

Though typically an underexplored silhouette in the retro catalog, the return of the Air Jordan 8 “Aqua” makes two OG pairs returning in 2025. The Air Jordan 8 “Bugs Bunny” is expected for Holiday 2025.
