HOKA Unveils The Mach X Caged

HOKA’s ascent is undeniable, but the France-originated footwear giant often caters more to the casual consumer than to our subset. Because of that, it’s only the brand’s splashiest It’s often only the brand’s splashiest announcements that make it across our desk, proven this year with their mashup Speed Loafer and the breakout MARNI HOKA Bondi B3LS. As we turn our attention to California once again, this time it’s inline news that’s caught our attention: the debut of the HOKA Mach X Caged.

In similar fashion to the Speed Loafer, borrowing underfoot tooling from an already established performance model, the Mach X Caged reimagines a bonafide speed trainer with futuristic touches up top. Indeed, the PEBAX spring plate, molded geometry, and supershoe foam from the Mach X 2 sole unit remain unchanged and in place. Work upwards and you’ll find an equally layered composition around the foot itself, delivering a smattering of amoeba-like cut-outs that display the three-ply construction up top; a TPU exterior cage gives way to microfiber containment and mono mesh at the foundation. To enhance the forward-facing aesthetics on display, HOKA taps two tonal looks for the silhouette’s debut, one in all-yellow and one in all-black.

The HOKA Mach X Caged releases on August 15th via HOKA.com, in-store locations, and select retailers. Retail is set at $200 for either pair.
