Andrew Rizzo Gone are the days of the humble gym slide. The past few years have seen footwear brands focus more on what athletes wear after competing, demonstrated notably by models like the Nike ReactX Rejuven8, HOKA Ora, and New Balance Fresh Foam RCVRY to name a few – all designed to bring relief to tired feet.
Growing a category currently held down by the DMX Recovery Slide, Reebok is releasing a new post-competition model called the DMX Recovery Mule on September 18th. To the uninitiated; DMX is essentially the Reebok equivalent to Nike’s Tuned Air cushioning system. Air moves between interconnected chambers or “pods” in the sole unit, creating a dynamic cushioning effect that adapts to the wearer’s movements. It’s been used in pretty much all Reebok product lines since its inception in 1997, most notably through Allen Iverson signature models.
Importantly, while not an official Angel Reese shoe, the DMX Recovery Mule debuts on the same day as the Reebok Angel Reese 1. The three Mule colorways on tap also align perfectly with the Reese 1 rollout looks, helmed by a Barbie-esque “Paradise Pink” pair alongside black and white options.
