Andrew Rizzo It’s all eyes on AWAKE NY as Angelo Baque’s brand gears up for the release of the AWAKE Jordan 5 later this month; but that’s not the only reason Baque and co. are deserving of a shoutout. The ASICS GEL-NYC, a model AWAKE NY brought to market through their January 2023 collab, just dropped in two fresh, autumn-appropriate looks on asics.com.
Leading the charge is a “Cream/Irvine” colorway, although its official color palette doesn’t do it justice. Orange leather underlays clash with navy blue hits on the lining, heel, and GEL cushioning, producing a New York Knicks sort of vibe. A green suede “Irvine” mudguard takes the design in a different direction, conjuring a hunting/flight jacket aesthetic hand in hand with the orange paneling. The other colorway features neon green accents over a “White/Glacier Grey” base, dare we say reminding us of the Air Max 95 “Neon” to a small extent.
