Matt Varga It won’t be reflected in any traditional calendars, but adidas has again and again marked 2025 as the “Year of the Superstar.” Rife with collaborations and special editions all year, a new build is starting to gain steam, as the adidas Superstar Vintage steps to the fore once again with a “Fox Brown” crocodile adornment.
The central choice here is both easily digestible and comprehensive, dousing the shell toe silhouette’s upper entirely in the textured material. Add tan leather linings and an overall black/brown color treatment and it’s immediately apparent that this is a Superstar with eyes on formal applications more than its usual streetstyle ones.
Though “returning to the 1969 build” is the chief promise inherent in the “Vintage” subtitle, adidas has already demonstrated that a higher material quality is a close second to that. See the 20 dollar markup on the original white/black and black/white that came after their star-studded Superstar ad, or the more recent “Made In Germany” edition that connects to their similar efforts on additional staple silhouettes.
Clearly, the adidas Superstar Vintage “Croc Skin” is a step to expand that program. This colorway arrives globally on August 14th, with a stateside release expected to follow shortly after. While we await those details, peruse the official image gallery below.
