Another archival Kobe model is about to join the Protro family, so it’s only right the marketing push is a family affair.

Nike Basketball launched a social spot for the upcoming Nike Kobe 3 Protro, set in the Diamond District and finding Clutch Player of the Year Jalen Brunson in Natalia Bryant and Big Time Tommie’s “Rings-N-Things” jewelry store. Arguably the Kobe athlete within the current NBA landscape, it’s no shock that any manner of chain, earring, or bangle wasn’t what caught #11’s attention, instead captivated by the all-white retro basketball model. After passing Bryant and Romola’s clutch gene DNA test, another contender enters the mix: #1 ranked recruit Aaliyah Chavez.

The eldest Bryant child appearing in this spot is a full-circle moment in and of itself; Eric Avar and Kobe tooled the diamond-shaped upper and traction pattern of the shoe as an ode to her (full name Natalia Diamanté Bryant), making her stamp on the shoe all the more sentimental and meaningful some 18 years after its debut.
