Spongebob Squarepants may call Bikini Bottom home, but in the realm of footwear, he and his friends have ended up in some far-flung places. PUMA and Crocs have recruited the fry cook for the lifestyle space in recent years, while, in arguably the more memorable applications, he and his inner circle have stepped onto the hardwood for Jokic 361 Degrees and Nike Kyrie collections.
Now another venerated brand steps into the Krusty Krab, instead pulling Bob’s right hand man into their orbit. Indeed, Patrick Star graces the adidas Superstar, yet another spotlight for the shell toe in a year already filled with high-profile moments for the silhouette. At rest, the shoe actually keeps things rather conservative, presenting off-white rubber on the toe and midsole, while building the majority of the upper in sea star pink. It’ll take a bit of closer inspection to reveal the real animated details for this animated interpretation: Patrick peeks out from the tongue, alternate laces adapt his floral swim trunks, and translucent blue outsoles display the sea/sky of the series.
The adidas Superstar “Patrick Star” is available now via retailers like Finish Line and JD Sports, clocking in at $130 for adult sizing. A wider adidas launch is expected to follow in November.
