Sneaker News The Air Jordan 1, still celebrated in its original 1985 form, continues to undergo fitting transformations into the off-court lifestyle realms. Already a staple on city streets, the original Jordan model takes a walk on the wild side with the Air Jordan 1 Low Element, the the most rugged hiking shoe modification yet.
Previewed at a private event in New York City, the Air Jordan 1 Low Element captures the DNA of Peter Moore’s design, but enhanced by a studded outsole for grippy traction and Gore-Tex protection against the elements. The interior bootie is blanketed by a standard Air Jordan 1 tongue in a gridded nylon that covers the toe-box as well as the mid-foot. The overlays are a soft suede with micro perforations at the heel, while the taped Swoosh logo sits in its standard position.
As alluded to before, the Air Jordan 1 Low Element is not the brand’s first foray into the trails. Earlier iterations like the nearly identically named Air Jordan 1 Element Gore-Tex is based on the high-top model, but utilizes an outsole that can’t stand up to the newer version on a technical stand-point. The lugs on the traction scoop up the toe and the heel, creating maximum grip for those heel and toe strikes. Another attempt at AJ1 hiking boots was made back in 2013 called the Air Jordan 1 City Trek, although that was focused more on casual wear.
It’s also worth pointing out the similarities between this model and one of the year’s most sought-after and controversial sneakers — the Nike Mars Yard 3.0 by Tom Sachs. The third iteration of the collaboration, itself possessing an 80’s Nike DNA and a rugged outsole, shares some similar properties as the Air Jordan 1 Low Element.
Three colorways have been officially revealed: Glacier Blue, Medium Olive, and Black/Challenge Red. All three are expected to launch on October 1st, 2025 on Nike.com and select Jordan retailers for $200.
