All you have to do is look at the recent releases for the New Balance 1906R to know that winter is just around the corner. While they’ve still let loose a few run-of-the-mill builds for their tech runner icon, inclement weather-ready variations of the remastered silhouette have become commonplace on the newswire, both with a subtle Primaloft reconfiguration and a more comprehensive “No-Sew” Utility build.
The latter returns to the fore with an all-olive edition, pairing well with a flooded grey pair and taking a more down-the-middle approach compared to gradient editions that predated that. Lined synthetic interiors replace the usual breathable mesh to stand up better to winter than its usual summery build, bolstered by graphic layers atop that leave little space for water penetration. A pull tab on the heel, elastic laces, and pull closures push the model into trail-inspired aesthetics, ensuring these bring form to the table on top of simple function.
