Matt Varga With the Jordan 4 RM somewhat receding from our coverage and the Jordan Session still getting its legs under it, the Jordan Flight Court has emerged as the spotlighted model of its tacit product line. That’s in no small part due to flashes via Tela D’Amore and her Who Decides War, bringing splashy collaborations to the takedown/spin-off Jumpman product.
However, as always, the Jordan Brand team doesn’t necessarily need outside help to bring new energy to their silhouettes. Enter the Jordan Flight Court “Oil Green,” cooking up an an unexpected color combination but additionally bringing intrigue via the extensive use of tumbled leather, a first on the model. That makeup extends to each panel, both over and under, adding real texture and depth in spots that are typically matte on the silhouette.
This overhaul of the GR model comes during a year in which “leather quality” has risen back to the fore, both with the Awake Jordan 5 and the reissue of the Air Jordan 1 “Shattered Backboard.” Obviously it’s impossible to truly tell the quality of the materials in use without getting this shoe in hand, but at the very least from first impressions, the finish here does compare favorably to the OG version of that aforementioned AJ1.
