The ASICS GEL-Kayano 14 may be the more recognizable name among sneakerheads, but the ASICS GEL-1130 has meant big business for the Japanese giant among casual consumers. Dotting alias’ “Market Reports” with multiple colorways in many of their recent data dumps, its lower sticker price and still sturdy throwback aesthetics have made the model an incredibly popular choice amid the “throwback runner” boom.

Yet as autumn earnestly dawns across the Northern Hemisphere, the model is setting aside the Y2K cues that brought it that status with the newly-unveiled ASICS GEL-1130 “Camper Pack.” Gone are silver overlays and neutral mesh foundations, replaced by earthy overtones and suede upholstery, an unexpected yet certainly suitable choice to fit cooler climates. Though the “Mocha” style edition in “Dark Brown/Midnight” excels in its own right, its partner serves up a bit more color-blocking intrigue, pairing its olive/black base with off-white interruptions towards the toe and at the laces.

Either pair in the (unofficially-titled) ASICS GEL-1130 “Camper Pack” is coming to EU retailers on September 19th, expected to join stateside sometime this month. Retail is set at $120.
