In 1976, Nike issued one of its most revolutionary steps forward in the company’s history, introducing Air to its footwear roster. Though that innovation has been aped, borrowed, and spun off to no end, peruse the brand’s current lineup and you’d be able to trace the importance of Air even if you’d never seen a Swoosh.

While this year’s celebration of the product line has focused on silhouettes like the Air Max 95 and Air Max DN8, the Nike Air Max 90 persists as a significant part of the in-line catalog. Up next for the Hatfield-designed silhouette is the “Iron Grey” at hand, breaking from the continuous stream of OG-like editions that pace our newswire. To accomplish that, adjacent shades of steel collide across the shoe’s body, creating a genuinely arresting profile when combined with the “University Red” piping outlining the mudguard and coating the branding hits.

As an earnest GR, the Nike Air Max 90 “Iron Grey/University Red” should be hitting Nike.com without much advance warning in the coming weeks. Be ready for the usual $145 retail price upon arrival.
