Matt Varga We’re used to all-grey when it comes to the Boston brand, but as we’ve seen with hardware swings like the New Balance 2000, if there’s one thing they enjoy more than their “Grey Days,” it’s subverting our expectations.
Though it still remains in the neutral home base of NB, the New Balance 2002R instead looks to “Woodland” monochrome as we earnestly step into the Fall/Winter 2025 window. Though the materiality in the sole shifts that coloring a bit, that really covers much of what this pair has to offer, relying on its usual mesh and suede build that paces store shelves during warmer months, rather than turning to the weather-ready variations we’ve started to see as winter looms.
