SGA Reveals An All-White Converse SHAI 001 At OKC Media Day

As evidenced by basketball media members’ scheduled hiatuses in the month of September, the period before the start of training camp is often the true doldrums of the NBA offseason. Whether it’s been intentional or not, Shai Gilgeous Alexander has absolutely capitalized on that “slow news month,” positioning his signature shoe as one of the biggest stories in the sport over the past few weeks. Even with things on the hardwood beginning to stir as all 30 teams begin reporting, it’s the reigning Finals MVP at the center of the universe again as he teases a white colorway of the Converse SHAI 001.

Though the announcement in and of itself is noteworthy, the shoe itself is easy to parse. Keeping to the flooded aesthetics that’ve paced genuinely every one of the colorways we’ve seen so far, snow white spreads comprehensively across the shoe, following in the footsteps of the debut “Butter” and the impending family-oriented pack comprised of the “Hail Clay,” “Charm Black,” and “Masi Blue.” That said, even with a tonal arrangement, the molded fabric exterior and zip shroud still makes this pair as impactful as any of its predecessors.

At the time of this writing, it’s unclear when this all-white version of the Converse SHAI 001 will hit the public. Reading between the lines in some of Shai’s comments from this moment, it would appear that this pair will eventually hit shelves (add it to the pink SHAI 001 seen in Japan as far as indeterminate release dates go.)
