Shai Gilgeous-Alexander

Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is widely regarded as one of the best players in the NBA, and is a Converse signature athlete. Upon entering the league as a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, SGA signed a deal with Nike before sw swapping to the Swoosh subsidiary in 2020. During his rise to stardom once traded to the Oklahoma City Thunder, Alexander shined as the brightest face on the Boston brand’s roster, upholding their burgeoning basketball vertical and sporting shoes like the the All Star Pro BB, All Star BB Shift and All Star BB Trilliant.

In 2024, the All-NBA talent re-signed with Converse, nabbing a contract extension that included a promotion to Creative Director of Basketball and made him a signature athlete, promising that Shai Gilgeous-Alexander shoes would hit the market in short order. While kept under wraps for a few months following that news, the Converse Shai 001 was officially unveiled in February of 2025, sporting a plush, futuristic silhouette highlighted by a no-sew molded upper and zipper closure. In a rare moment of brand crossover, the shoe also carries Nike’s proprietary Zoom Air cushioning in the forefoot. The “Butter” colorway was the first to become known to the public, expected to land during the Fall 2025 shopping season.
