Shai Gilgeous-Alexander is already the owner of one of the more intriguing signature sneaker journeys in recent memory. After scorching-hot reception for the Converse SHAI 001 upon its release, what appeared to be a run-of-the-mill tease was in fact a major piece of breaking news; the MVP would be crossing over from Boston to Beaverton, bringing the SHAI 002 under the Nike banner instead. As his story with the Star strolls to its conclusion and his Swoosh era looms, we’re now getting concrete information surrounding the Nike SHAI 002.
First reported by @brandon1an, the Nike SHAI 002 is tabbed for release in February 2027, a shade under a year’s after the news first broke. The launch colorway, carrying a full color palette of “Hot Curry/Dark Team Red/Orange Chalk/Marakesh,” will clock in at $145 in men’s sizing. Sneaker News can also confirm that grade school pairs will be in tow for the shoe’s debut; those will retail for $120. With Shai earning an All-Star nod every year since 2022, it feels like a very safe bet that this unveiling will be tied to the festivities in Phoenix.
With the SHAI 001 first unveiled in February of 2025, this update only adds to our questions of how this transfer took place. How far was Converse into the design of its sequel before Nike took the reins? Was that decision tied at all to public reception? Or was this a planned change-over from the beginning? Hopefully, we’ll get answers to all of that and more once the Nike SHAI 002 gets closer to becoming a reality. For now, check out some shots from Shai’s WHQ visit below.
