Each colorway sticks to the monotone blueprint established by previous releases, leaving the storytelling to the names themselves. The “Charm Black”, unveiled just ahead of Mother’s Day this past May, is named after SGA’s mother, Charmaine Gilgeous, whose favorite color is black. “Masi Blue” nods to Shai’s younger brother Thomasi, said to be inspired by the former University of Evansville hooper’s “cooler than ice” demeanor. Rounding out the trio, “Hail Clay” pays tribute to Shai’s wife, Hailey Summers — whom he calls his “Most Valuable Person” — by incorporating her eye color.
