The breakneck pace that the NBA can often operate at versus the year-ahead schedule that basketball shoes are ideated and produced with can create some awkward situations. When it comes to the adidas Dame X, Lillard’s waiving from the Bucks and subsequent Trailblazers reunion was something the Three Stripes was prepared for on the latter side of the equation, as even when he wasn’t in Portland, red and black options paced his catalog regardless.

On the former, we’ve seen colorways crafted to go with Dame’s former team’s uniforms serve as painful reminders of what could have been. First revealed while he was still under contrast alongside Giannis and co., an inital “Bucks” version didn’t end up hitting shelves until he was long gone from Wisconsin. Now another edition befitting the Midwest squad hits the wire, this time taking cues from their the franchise’s early 2000s jerseys. Replete with an action deer on the front and utilized famously Ray Allen’s tenure, those unis provide the tri-color purple/black/green split seen here, with an additional piece of gum traction in the outsole helping this shoe offer some grounded appea;.
