The once-runner leans into its heritage design.

“Metallic Silver” Polishes Up The Nike Shox NZ As It Returns To Shelves

If the heavy push for its established silhouettes wasn’t enough confirmation, Nike has once again stamped that its Shox vertical isn’t going anywhere. Already receiving an extension of its retro effort by adding the Shox Ride 2 onto the success of the Shox R4 and Shox TL, the brand added both new and nostalgic energy into the mix with the addition of the Nike Shox NZ and Nike Shox Z.

The latter, a kitten-heeled, slim-soled new invention, recently saw a splashy spotlight on the feet of Aryna Sabalenka for a glossy press/photo release. While we’ve yet to see the same celebrity endorsement for the Shox NZ, perhaps its older counterpart doesn’t need it. With scattered releases in 2014 and 2015, it’s already a silhouette that’s been kicking around in the consciousness since its mid-aughts introduction, partially playing into the appeal of the Z, given it came into the world as a “sleeker” alternative to the bulkier introductory Shox styles.

With that in mind, the retro sportstyle atmosphere utilized for the “Metallic Silver” and “Midnight Navy” pair at hand is particularly effective. Chrome detailing has been an easy way to connect to Y2K stylings throughout the aesthetic’s resurgence, while cooling aquatic shades present a complementary foil on the synthetic base.

Look for the Nike Shox Z “Midnight Navy/Metallic Silver” on Nike.com and at partnering retailers as we step into the Holiday 2025 season. Be ready for a $135 sticker price upon arrival.
