adidas Presents The Samba With Zipper Shrouds

We’ve gotten accustomed to seeing adidas break from norms with mold-breaking Samba styles in recent seasons, but even we’re a little taken aback by what the Three Stripes has in store for Holiday 2025.

Taking cues from the late 1990s and early 2000s, adidas is touching down with a Samba duo featuring zippered shrouds for the holiday season. This aesthetic has been trending in recent years, led notably by new and resurgent models like the Converse SHAI 001 and Nike Air Max Sunder to name a few. adidas hasn’t really matched Nike Inc. in this lane, but the brand did recently roll out a new zippered silhouette called the Megaride S2 this summer — not to mention the DON Issue #7.

Even though the look is trending, adidas’ decision to fuse Y2K-era hoops and running aesthetics with its tentpole soccer shoe is intriguing, to say the least. The Samba undergoes a number of key transformations, the main one being the addition of a leather, zippered layer over the tongue. The tongue itself has been altered too, swapping out its usual leather build for a slim, performance-focused synthetic material. Meanwhile, the base forgoes its classic paneling in favor of a single ripstop layer, with printed stripes and stitching used to define the T-toe.

This adidas Samba style is set to release in two monochrome colorways for Holiday 2025: silver and burgundy red. See official images of both options below if these speak to your taste.
