Nike Project Amplify Is An Electric Bike For Your Feet

Wearable tech to the next level.

Nike Project Amplify Is An Electric Bike For Your Feet

Introducing Nike Project Amplify, the world’s first powered footwear system for running and walking, designed to help everyday athletes go a little bit faster and farther. While still in its testing stage, this latest project is positioned as a key step to the brand’s innovation structure that unifies Nike with its subsidiaries Jordan and Converse.

Whether it be through its innovations like Project Amplify or its partnerships with the like of Hyperice and Zellerfeld, Nike has proven that the athlete is the priority. Staying committed to its essence–creating excellently designed difference-making performance products–is what will keep the brand at the forefront.

Project Amplify, made with robotics partner Dephy, is designed to make running/jogging/walking more fun and approachable for those in the 10-12 minute mile pace. While appealing to runners of all levels, it is likely targeted at the elder demographic. As Nike calls it, it’s a second set of calves.

Project Amplify is different in that it’s more than just shoes; visually robotic, this new wearable innovation elevates the floor and ceiling that Bill Bowerman first created when he poured rubber onto a waffle iron. Below are some earlier prototypes of Project Amplify; admittedly this wearable tech looks very awkward even in its first generation stages, so we’re curious to see just how much the engineering team can streamline the design. Official release information has not yet been shared as it is still in its testing stage.
