Matt Varga In the second quarter of this year, Saucony surprised both the media landscape and consumer base with the announcement of SILO, a new pinnacle subdivision for the brand aimed at reinterpreting their performance history for futuristic, often fashion-forward new inventions.
After an initial delivery that focused on verticals like Kinvara and Grid, the brand’s second collection begins to showcase the new territory that the company is pushing towards. Case in point, the Saucony SILO Momentum S, an interpretation of their archival running shoes spun forward to meet slim-sole trends that have recently taken over social media feeds and lookbooks. Angular, sharp linework coursing through its body and sole unit immediately communicates this shoe’s distance from mainline offerings, as does the use of patent leather in said overlays.
Leather lining and a tech-fueled platform, built on a combination of PWRRUN and XT-600 tech seen in their earnest performance wear, close out this worlds-collide concept. For the introduction of the Saucony SILO Momentum S, the design team cooks up three editions: a fiery “Currant/Nirvana,” a stealthy “Black/Iron,” and a more natural “Parchment/Ivory.”
