Matt Varga College basketball season has some extra sheen to it this year. The Swoosh has let loose one of their more well-regarded performance models in school pride, first tipped off with three doses of Duke blue for their blue-blood program. Heading out west, USC Basketball just shared a look at their own three versions of the Nike Kobe 5 Protro.
Eschewing the staggered rollout that their cross-country rivals opted for, the Trojans add a glitzy photo shoot for all three styles they received: a home “White,” black “Away,” and “Crimson” alternate. Largely speaking, the former two execute team-friendly, if not simplistic, overall colorways, pulling neutral shades to pair with trademark accent tones—particularly effective on either pair with a burgundy Swoosh and golden outline. It’s that third edition where things get a bit more rangy, coated primarily in Trojan red while adding a white-to-yellow gradient across the eyestays.
Though some USC athletes already have product coming down the pike (cough, cough — the JuJu Watkins GT Cut 3 Turbo), these USC PE Kobe 5 colorways add some of the more attention-grabbing performance wear from the university we’ve seen in recent memory. Catch detailed shots below.
