Matt Varga Nike’s N7 program should be readily recognizable to Swoosh devotees of any age — an initiative to celebrate and spotlight Native athletes through their stable of footwear and apparel options. Having taken over lifestyle models in recent steps, the Holiday 2025 Nike N7 chapter instead turns back to its roots in performance, foregrounding the retro V2K RNR and the modern Pegasus 41.
Once again, designer Lauren Thomas, a member of the Mi’kmaq tribe and a long-time designer (having recently crafted the AF1/AM1 capsule dropped in June 2024), heads up this effort. Of the offerings for this year, Thomas shares:
“Our new N7 collection recognizes the people who always were, are, and will be — along with their eternal connection to the land. As an Indigenous designer, I believe that honoring specific places is an act of respect, and I designed each piece to nod directly to a connection between land and people.”
That connection to the land is immediately felt with the earthy tones that coat either running silhouette, from the rusty overtones that paint the V2K RNR to the “Sage” that coats the Pegasus 41. Heavy doses of N7 branding on the interior of both ensure the inspiration behind these pairs isn’t lost. In addition to the footwear aspect, performance apparel like a 5-inch short, woven cargo pant, Phoenix fleece crew, and short- and long-sleeve T-shirts are on offer.
