Even if it wasn’t a frequent sight on metro sidewalks, the Nike Shox R4 has been able to stamp its cachet among the fashionable with its more experimental editions, none wilder than the Martine Rose mule makeover, recently visited once again with a focus on gaming.

Yet of course it’s the parent composition that’s gone the furthest in bringing the Shox vertical back to a place of wide acceptance. With that in mind, it’s been in Nike’s best interest to add a diverse slate of general releases to shelves, a prompt that the Nike Shox R4 “College Grey” delivers on well. Black trim in the Swoosh and cushioning platform are essentially the only spots where this shoe breaks from its grey overtones. A few fire red flares down the midline close out this pair, eminently wearable yet still carrying a bit of eye-catching draw by way of its eccentric Shox tech.
