Back to where it all began. The Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chicago” releases on November 15th, in full family sizing with a price breakdown as follows: adults ($145), grade school ($120), preschool ($80), and toddler ($65). As with most spotlighted Nike, Inc. product, SNKRS will be your primary source for this one, but a host of high-level boutiques and retail partners will be hosting their own launches.

When it comes to the real “OG” pairs of the Air Jordan 1 (namely the “Bred” and “Chicago”), you may not need a whole dissertation to know why most, if not all, of the faithful run-backs of those ’85 editions command attention. But the Lows? Cutting away from Mike’s high-top pair yet still becoming just as coveted as some of its taller siblings does require some explanation.

When it comes to the 2016 pair, initial reaction was lukewarm, arriving in the middle of an era in which the Air Jordan 1 Low was very much a step-sibling compared to parent Retro builds. In the years following that drop, a milieu of pandemic-era nostalgia (fueled in no small part by The Last Dance) gave new rise to the popularity of the “Chicago” colorway. At the same time, Travis Scott’s efforts on the Air Jordan 1 Low OG helped bring the shorter build a new high-water mark in acceptability and desirability. Stir all of that up, and the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chicago” from 2016 became a late-blooming, high-heat release — a far cry from its initial launch, in which it was a frequent sight at Nike Outlet stores and on the discount rack at large.

Cut nearly a decade later, and Jordan Brand is giving in to the secondary market demand by returning to the Air Jordan 1 Low OG “Chicago,” additionally fitting given the celebration of the Jumpman 40th anniversary in 2025. With the “Big Swoosh” build helping distinguish the ’16 pair from later OG color-ups, the design team took special care to recreate that touch — one adapted from how 1985 pairs of the AJ1 Low hit the public. Though later versions of the shoe that’ll arrive through 2026 and beyond are expected to keep this detail intact, this marks a particularly high-profile debut for the branding note.
