Matt Varga adidas’ “Terrace” staples continue to push forward both the brand’s quarterly sales and the football culture, overtaking sneakers in general. As always, while the Samba might be the most easily identifiable for the casual consumer, the Three Stripes’ indoor representatives are far from limited to that design. The fashion-forward retoolings that so frequently hit its older sibling have begun to creep onto the Handball Spezial, now trying its hand at a “Basket Weave” arrangement.
Though we stand by the silhouette’s readiness for the same trendy treatment, it really isn’t often that we see this sort of material experimentation, last attempting something akin to this with the “Corduroy Pack.” It’s a similar execution here, replacing traditional materials with interwoven synthetics for a bit more of a rustic overall feel, additionally adding some shining detail under the right conditions. As if to highlight the hardware changes, this composition leans on a classic black/gum in its debut, before shifting into similarly understated, dusky territory with a purple/black.
These adidas Handball Spezial “Basket Weave” colorways don’t have a hard release date attached; expect an adidas.com drop soon. Retail pricing is opaque at the time of this writing as well, but don’t be shocked if there’s a slight premium on the usual sticker price.
