Original article published December 8th, 2025:

The scale of the 2026 FIFA World Cup defies comparison. This will be the first tournament staged across three countries, a sprawling celebration stretching through 16 cities in the United States, Mexico, and Canada. It may also mark the final World Cup appearance for two of the greatest players the sport has ever known, Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo. The expanded 48-team format has created unprecedented demand, and even the most basic tickets are already approaching or surpassing the price of a month’s rent in many host cities, including New York.

With all that in mind, the world’s biggest sportswear brands are preparing to market the beautiful game on a truly global stage. Nike, for its part, is tapping into its top-tier star power to spotlight one of its premier boots. Just yesterday, Travis Scott joined R9 at Nike’s Toma El Juego streetball tournament in Miami wearing what seemed to be an unreleased Nike Phantom 6 prototype. At the same time, detailed images of a special Kobe Bryant edition have surfaced, and the pair is now confirmed for a public release.

Set to release in both high and low-top styles, the Kobe Bryant Nike Phantom 6 stands out with reptilian-textured white fabric and Kobe’s signature logo in green at the heel. A matching green Swoosh appears on the forefoot, while custom insoles reading “Mamba” complete the tribute.

This cross-pollination of Kobe Bryant shoes is far from random. Kobe was an avid soccer fan and a well-documented supporter of AC Milan, a passion that began during his childhood in Italy. Later in life, his friendships with Ronaldinho and Lionel Messi strengthened his connection to the sport and gave him a deep appreciation for Barcelona as well.

The Kobe Bryant Nike Phantom 6 boots are set to release Holiday 2025, each priced at $305 USD.
