Matt Varga While many of its “tech runner” peers have spent time cozying up to high-fashion labels and making appearances on the runway, the leading cause of the blurred lines between fashion and sportstyle that remains an inescapable topic, the Nike Zoom Vomero 5 has had a humbler life. Outside of the A-COLD-WALL collaboration that kickstarted its first retro effort in the past decade, the throwback runner has largely been content carving its own way without any outside help.
However, even if it hasn’t taken to any outside labels, that doesn’t mean that it’s not able to embrace some glossier looks. The latest colorway for the Zoom Vomero 5 takes that description literally, entirely blacked-out in its profile but adding a key material divergence with patent leather toes and overlays. Doing so allows for a more attention-grabbing look than we typically see from the past-decade model, or at least a swankier version when compared with the neon colorways that continue to line the shelves.
