The New Balance 1000 Issues A New Foundation In “Metallic Silver”

Slight tweaks for the new year.

The New Balance 1000 Issues A New Foundation In “Metallic Silver”

Things move fast in the sneaker world. It was only at the top of 2024 when the New Balance 1000 was genuinely one of the hottest commodities in the blogosphere and the online collecting world in general, with factory close-ups and low-res screenshots fueling speculation about the retro effort from the Boston brand.

It’s not an indictment on the model that things have returned to a more run-of-the-mill energy in the time since, obviously now fully revealed and serving as a tentpole model in the brand’s lifestyle roster. Afforded with that familiarity is an ability to experiment, something visited with an upcoming silver/grey colorway.

While the overtones of this colorway hit on the trademark neutral coloring associated with NB and the silver shades synonymous with the Y2K movement, you can peer just a bit beyond the usual top and bottom overlays to see a more foundational shift. The usual hexagonal or diamond mesh that defines the model now becomes a gridded triangular arrangement, perhaps a compositional choice that we’ll see make repeat appearances as 2026 plays out.

Look for the New Balance 1000 “Metallic Silver” to hit NewBalance.com once the calendar turns over, clocking in close to its usual $150 retail price. Catch official images below and keep our Sneaker Release Dates page within reach for more updates as they come.
