Andrew Rizzo Thanks in no small part to Michael Jordan’s impact in the 1980s and 1990s, basketball has become a truly global game. The world’s best players are no longer concentrated in New York and Los Angeles. They now also hail from Serbia, Greece, France, and beyond, a shift that will be fully on display with this season’s new USA vs. World format for the NBA All-Star Game.
The league has hosted regular-season games abroad before, including stops in Japan, Mexico, France, and London, along with a wide slate of preseason matchups worldwide. Now, the NBA is taking things a step further with plans to host six regular-season games in Europe over the next three years. That initiative begins this January with one game in Berlin and another in London, both featuring the Orlando Magic and Memphis Grizzlies. To commemorate the occasion, Nike has teamed up with the league on a special Air Force 1 packed with details inspired by the NBA’s global reach.
The design builds off the classic Uptown formula with a white leather base and black on the lining and backtab. From there, a host of special touches come into play. The tongue uses basketball jersey-inspired mesh and custom tags. The outer features Nike branding over basketballs, while the inners read “London” and “Berlin” on the left and right shoes, respectively. Hand-drawn co-branding appears on the insoles, while additional markings are revealed on the outsole through translucent traction. Last but not least, the NBA logo lands on the spine in black.
The Nike Air Force 1 “NBA” is expected to release January 2026, likely coinciding with the games in Berlin game on January 15th and the London on January 18th. See official images below if these are on your radar.
