Matt Varga Quiet as kept, one of Nike’s more significant tech advancements is nigh. The Nike “Mind” series, a new flank of their athlete-focused footwear branch, aims at increasing the mind-body connection and driving mindfulness in general through what currently stands at two distinct models.
As opposed to the slip-on Mind 001, the Nike Mind 002 presents as the everyday, conventional option, replete with a traditional lacing system, pull-tabs, and a breathable synthetic upper. Of course, the real development is in the platform underneath, a system of individually flexing pods that the Swoosh claims will “activate key pressure point areas connected to sensory regions of the brain.”
We and Nike alike can wax poetic about the functional applications of this innovation, but at the end of the day, its stylability is just as much of a hinge point. To address that, this “Light Violet Ore” capitalizes on trendy neutrals, painting the entire shoe in delicate mauve, with the exception of a silver Swoosh brand at the quarter and the trademark orange underfoot we’ve seen the whole way through.
