Los Angeles, 1991. Game five of the NBA Finals featuring the Chicago Bulls vs. the Lakers. After years of scratching the surface, Michael Jordan is about to make good on his greatness by winning his first NBA Championship. And he’ll do it in the Air Jordan 6 “Infrared,” transforming a concoction of leather and polyurethane into a symbol of greatness for decades to come.
Thirty-five years later, the Air Jordan 6 is kicking off its latest milestone year with a new Jordan 6 “Infrared” rooted in sneaker lore, taking inspiration from an unreleased “Reverse Infrared” sample created for the shoe’s first retro run in the early 2000s. Two changes distinguish the look. The front half of the midsole swaps its black and Infrared placements, and the heel features Infrared as opposed to black-on-black Nike Air branding. Almost too perfectly, the City of Angels is the setting of note once again, with the shoe primed to release during NBA All-Star Weekend in Los Angeles on February 14th.
Below you’ll find official images of the Air Jordan 6 “Reverse Infrared” followed by our Where To Buy widget and more release + background info. This is one many have had circled on their calendar.

What is the Jordan 6 “Reverse Infrared” based off?
The Air Jordan 6 “Reverse Infrared” is based off an unreleased sample created for the model’s first-ever retro run in the early 2000s, attached below.

Will the “Reverse Infrared” Jordan 6 be hard to cop?
That depends on multiple factors, mainly how many pairs end up being produced. In a sense, the sneaker can be compared to last year’s highly sought-after Jordan 5 “Black Metallic Reimagined” in that it’s a subtle, tasteful spin on a beloved original colorway. Whether retailers decide to hold raffles or standard drops should be telling.
What other Jordan 6s are dropping this year?
Several other Air Jordan 6s are releasing in 2026, including “White/Infrared” and “Oreo” retros. As for new styles, we’re also getting a Jordan 6 “Cap And Gown” as well as a two-pair collab by AWAKE NY.
